(1) Round off the following numbers to the nearest hundreds.
Solution :
(a) Given number, 264
∴ The nearest hundred of 264 is 300
(b) Given number, 450
∴ The nearest hundred of 450 is 500
(c) Given number, 585
∴ The nearest hundred of 585 is 600
(d) Given number, 942
∴ The nearest hundred of 942 is 900
(e) Given number, 1535
∴ The nearest hundred of 1535 is 1500
(f) Given number, 1750
∴ The nearest hundred of 1750 is 1800/1700
(g) Given number, 3412
∴ The nearest hundred of 3412 is 3400
(h) Given number, 4582
∴ The nearest hundred of 4582 is 4600

∴ The nearest thousand of 1200 is 1000

Here, 84321 cannot be rounded off to ten thousands as 90,000.
So, correct option is – (a) 84321
(8) Rewrite the following statements by rounding off the figure as directed.
Solution :
(a) Given, cost of bicycle is = ₹1872.
∴ ₹1872 to the nearest hundred is = ₹1900
(b) Given, number of people living in a colony is = 4743.
∴ 4743 to the nearest thousand is = 5000
(c) Given, cost of a motorcycle is = ₹28,485.
∴ ₹28,485 to the nearest thousand is = ₹28,000
(d) Given, number of cars in a city is 248960.
248960 to the nearest ten thousand is = 2,50,000
